The zero hour work week is a free ebook about liberating yourself and do what you love written by Jonathan from Illuminated Mind.
I’ve been reading many books on the subject lately so I’d not be impressed from general good copywriting, but this one contains a bunch of very useful stuff about realizing your dreams that I decided to write a review here.
The book is divided in four main areas where Jonathan describes how he was able to escape the 5-9 workweek and dedicate himself completely to do what he likes. There are also many case studies with many internet entrepreneurs (mostly bloggers) and various techniques that are certainly worth reading for you.
But the part I enjoyed most of the book is the one where he talks about how he select the work he needs to do and how the help of others is important for your success.
Very few people ever mention this so I was very excited to hear what he had to say.
In particular he talks about his ability to select high value activities to do and how he shares them with others.
His words:
“Creating a list of my highest leverage tasks, and deliberately choosing what I’m going to work on each day.”
And:
“Being a part of an accountability/mastermind group.”
How just two sentences have the potential to transform the direction of your business. Let’s dig in them deeper.
The first one is simple. He presumably don’t like to spend his time checking emails and statistics, chatting in msn. Instead he might prefer to do high value activities like writing a free book (or a paid one), writing articles and enjoying his life.
Maybe I think I will start to use that cool order feature in my todo list application ;)
But what about that accountability/mastermind group? I never did that but I’m curios and I want to. It would mean that I could have the opportunity to talk about my goals in front of someone else and to prioritize and report to them what I’m going to do to make them happen.
It sounds like a fantastic idea and I’ve already shared it with a friend (he’s not an internet guy) and he agreed to give it a try.
Anyway, this is just some of the good stuff you’ll find inside the book, and as I said earlier in this post, it’s free to get, and it’s an awesome read on its own, so definitely get your copy here.

Cool stuff!
I really enjoyed “4-Hour work week” by Tim Ferris so I’ll be curious to read this. Thanks for the recommendation.

Hey Oscar
I’ve had a quick read of 0HWW and it looks great. The high leverage tasks is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I get up early to do my blogging work but have found it easy to do things that keep me busy and do have some value (twitter etc) but I know there’s things I could do that would make more value that i avoid….will work on that. :-)
Thanks Oscar

Hey Jen! In my room I have a draw board where I’ve written “Are you inventing things to do do avoid the important?” I found it to be so true many time and it helps when I notice it.

Hi Oscar,
I downloaded and added to todo list. Thanks for the ressource!
Other than that your web layout seems nice and efficient. Easy access to previous posts might have people hanging around quite a while longer on the blog’s main page.
Great idea, I’d love to hear how that’s working for you.

Hey Charles,
Thanks for your feedback. I’m still tweaking around a bit but I hope to have increased usability.

Jon’s book is all the way for the WIN! Yeah, the mastermind group thingy is an idea that I recommend having too. Find friends / colleagues who you can commit to account to each other (don’t have to share every secret unless necessary). I have mine, where we’ll poke into each other lives and making sure that we’re all doing good — eg: making sure we’re on track to our goals, or encouraging one another, having fun…
In fact, I’m gonna go meet them now! :)

Hey Daniel,
I have yet to find an online mastermind group. I’d really like to join one though because I believe it’s a huge learning experience. Thanks for dropping by.

Check out http://actionplan.com/actionplanclub.html. I am a member myself. Robert has put together a wonderful marketing club with tons of great information. One of the benefits is you can join a mastermind group. The group I joined has our fist meeting tomorrow. When you sign up, they pair you with other appropriate business owners. The small monthly fee is well worth it.
