There’s a day in life when everything changes. Suddenly you realize that what you have always thought to be important is no longer that important.
You start to see things from a different perspective. You notice the colors of nature around you, the beauty of your city that just yesterday appeared so empty.
Monday mornings are no longer monday mornings. Nothing is like before.
This is the day when everything changes. Today you are alive and conscious. You are seeing the world with new eyes, your real eyes, the world you were always meant to be seeing from the beginning. You realize that until yesterday you were only seeing the world through sunglasses.
Now you finally see opportunities instead of problems. You see being stuck in the traffic as an opportunity to call an old friend. You see a lesson to learn in everything and you can always find the positive side in everything you do or that happens to you.
You get rid of all the nonsense tasks that were only cluttering your life. You start to live simply and you do what you really want to do, the rest can wait.
If you could describe this state of mind in two words, they would be: calm and clarity. Calm means that you are no longer in a rush, and clarity means that you are consciously deciding what’s important to you, and you are consciously deciding how to react to external events.
I’m sure you have experienced a day like this before. Perhaps it happened after you received something that you liked a lot, or maybe you just woke up like that one day. It doesn’t matter, you were alive, and you were happy.
Each morning you have a choice. You can decide to see the world through your eyes and your heart, or you can decide to wear sunglasses like yesterday. It’s really up to you.
I assure you that it doesn’t hurt to get up in the morning with a smile, to smell the fresh air through the window of my car while I go to work, and to be always positive.
No, I’ve not always been like that. And yes, there are still days where it’s difficult to be motivated. But eventually it’s only up to me to decide how I want to feel, and the same is true for you.
Decide to feel good. Now.

Totally true. In fact, how you feel is what you want to feel too. Life is all about living with your perspectives. Otherwise, we all will be the same. Human race is about different perspectives and sudden surprises.

Awesome post. I’ve had periods in my life like that and now I keep reminding myself to stay at that place. Nothing’s worth being stressed or unhappy about. Thanks for the reminder :)

Oscar, one of my favorite posts of yours. Reads like poetry. I really, really like it.
I like the line “When MOnday mornings are no longer Monday mornings.”
AWESOMENESS!!!!
(The cool thing is the tone totally matches the point you’re “driving” home.)

Hey Papa, I’m really glad you liked. I never tried this writing style, so I was unsure about the responses. Thanks for the feedback.

You, my friend, are the anti-Garfield.
I’m not going to lie. I’m an impatient driver with lead foot syndrome (which is really just a nice way of saying I’ve got a oh-so-mild case of road rage). But, the other morning… Monday morning actually… I was stuck in some nasty traffic and you know what, it wasn’t so bad once I decided I wasn’t in a rush. I like being on time and I was running late, but that day I just didn’t care. Funny how I got there on time anyway. Now I just have to make it a habit!

Hey Valerie, I drive fast so I know what you mean. However I don’t mind being in the traffic, and if that’s the case I just relax while I can.

I’ve had one or two days in my life that have changed everything, and I know I certainly am not done having them (I hope). To me, however, they seemed to be the product of a lot of thinking, a lot of reading and a lot of meditation. The days that changed everything seemed more like good luck than a conscious choice. I know I may have made the choice years before that particular day, but I honestly can’t say I’ve made the choice when I woke up in the morning.

You didn’t make a choice but perhaps you can make a choice in the future. You can also do it for some particular activity, for example I do it every time when I have my workouts.

Oscar, not sure if I’ve had entire days like this, but I’m sure I’ve had moments like these here and there.
I need to get out of the ‘rush rush rush, get things done’ mode; I do that a lot.
Thanks for making us pause and think!

Hey Moon, you must have some of them when you were a child, anyways it’s never too late. Keep in mind I’m not advising to procrastinate tough, but just to concentrate on important things and then enjoying the day. Maybe you can’t do it every day, but sometimes is better than never.

Hey Oscar:
I know what you are talking about. I love those days! Yet it is not easy to just wake up and just change your life in one simple decision.
It is my experience that those days are the results of persistent conscious action and thought to bring about days like that. It takes time and conscious effort to bring about great days like that. It takes time and determination.
But you are right, they results of small decisions that we make everyday to change ourselves. Life is all about small things. Nothing is really big. Big is just the accumulation of many small steps :)
I guess what I am trying to say is that we have to be patient and keep making decisions until they produce the results that we want :)
Best,
Tomas

Oscar,
A fine post to read every morning. It is our decision to think and feel what we want to. Always was, always will be.
I will keep the 2 C’s (calm and clarity) in mind for the rest of the day. Thanks Buddy :)
