Glen Allsopp is a personal development blogger and internet marketer. He has recently released a new premium product called cloud living. Cloud living is a product designed to help you create a profitable internet business through mini sites and blogs. The content is solid and genuine. I had the opportunity to buy a preview version of cloud living the day before it went out. I liked the content so much that I asked Glen for an interview. Enjoy.
Oscar: who are you?
Glen: I’m a 20 year-old college dropout who currently lives in the UK. I spent the last year and a half in Cape Town, South Africa, working for Fortune 100 companies as a social media manager and I’m soon starting a journey which will see me travel the world for the next 6 months.
Oscar: you are now making a solid five figures income every month from cloud living, how long did it take for you to reach that point?
Glen: I have been building websites for around four years now so in a way, I guess you could say that is how long it has taken. Realistically though, I have never had a mentor or followed any guides, I’ve learnt pretty much everything I know now through trial and error.
I did take the long road in terms of a learning curve but I definitely think it is paying off for me now. In terms of sites that generate most of my income right now, I would say it has only taken me around 12 months to get to this point.
Oscar: how much work do you put everyday for your blog and mini sites?
Glen: The thing I love about minisites is that they are literally “set up and go.” I run 7 of these and all I do on a daily basis is check their traffic stats to make sure there are no causes for concern or any issues that require my attention. So, in that regard, generally around 5 minutes per day on my minisites.
As far as blogging goes, it really depends what I’m working on. When I’m creating a product like Cloud Living, it’s not rare for me to be putting in 15 hour days to get what I need done. When I’m ‘just’ blogging and not working on a launch I would say I spend 2-3 hours writing and the rest of my time on promotion.
Promotion in this case might be writing articles for other websites or even just doing interviews like this one.
Oscar: How did your previous experience as seo and marketer helped with cloud living?
Glen: Cloud Living would not exist without my background. If I wasn’t making all of my money online then I wouldn’t be able to teach others how to do the same. There are some lengthy sections in the guide in regards to search engine optimisation and traffic building so, of course, my experience was crucial for this.
I would say my skills were very useful when it came to promoting the guide as well. I was featured in front of over 20,000 subscribers on other blogs and had the PluginID audience already who were interested in what I had to offer.
Without my experience there not only wouldn’t be a product, but I certainly wouldn’t have been able to sell it as well as I have either.
Oscar: Are you doing all the work by yourself or are you outsourcing a few tasks?
Glen: I generally work for myself but now and then I have these ‘funky’ little ideas that I think will help improve what I put out there. An example of this is my page on the top personal development blogs. I would say I have ideas that need programming about twice per month and I outsource that work to a guy named Gaurav.
Oscar: Do you have other businesses aside from blogging and mini sites?
Not right now, no.
