How To Quit Smoking

Note: this is an article for people who smoke and wants to quit. If you don’t smoke, feel free to skip it or send a link to this post to a friend you know.

I believe that anyone can quit smoking in three days without any difficulty if he/she knows the right method to do it. I know it because I’ve done it myself three years ago and it was so easy that I believe anyone can do it.

Now, before you say I wasn’t really smoking if I was able to quit in that short period of time, let me tell you that I used to smoke 15 cigarettes per day every day for 4-5 years, so I was addicted.
I quit by simply taking control of my mind and rewriting my brain information about smoking. It was nothing hard or strange, I simply understood why I was smoking and why smoking wasn’t solving my problems. After following the program I did, I literally disgusted the idea of smoking again, and it worked very well (it has been three years now).

I started by reading a copy of “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking” by Allen Carr (amazon link). He helped millions of people to quit smoking and I can proudly say that as soon as I finished that book (4 hours of continuous reading) I completely quit my bad habit.

That book works because it cures the root of your addiction. There are many other expensive programs out there, but they all try to cure the symptom, not the cause, and that’s why you start smoking again after 1 week.

So, if you want to quit smoking, I highly suggest you to get a copy of that book for yourself right now and start living again.

Got the book? Good, keep reading. There are actually a few tips I want to share with you that helped me tremendously into accomplishing my goal. Be sure you understand them completely before reading the book.

You have to really want to quit smoking. This sounds ridiculous but there are some people who don’t care about quit. If you are among them, nothing will help you right now so bookmark this page for when you’ll make the decision, but if you really want to quit because you want to experience a new and better life, then you are already half of the way to become smoke-free person.

You have to understand that your body doesn’t have any dependence at all. Actually it has some, but it’s so tiny that it would be harder for your body to sit up from your chair than to stop smoking.

Smoking it’s not the answer to your problems. Whatever you want to fix in your life, smoking will not help you. You’ll not be more relaxed after smoking a cigarette (do you really think that your body enjoys to inhale smoke?), you’ll not perform better a test after a cigarette, you’ll not stop the negative forces of the universe…

When you decide to quit, trash your cigarettes. You’ll not smoke anymore, so why would you keep your cigarettes and your lighter? Do yourself a favor and trash them immediately after you read the book. I did it and from that moment I knew I was a smoke-free person.

Tell others about it. I was so excited about it when I quit that I told everybody I knew about my decision. Don’t worry if they are a bit suspicious at first, they will change their mind after a while and you’ll gain a lot of respect.

You’ll start to see benefits from day one. After 24 hours has passed from your last cigarette, you’ll start to see noticeable benefits in your body, especially when you’ll wake in the morning. After one week you’re body will be much more powerful but it will take several months to return to the original state.

You don’t need to wait until a certain date to say that you are a smoke-free person. Read my article fake it till you make it to learn more about this.

You now have two choices: continue to smoke, or stop. I promise you it will be easy to stop if you read the book. I know it may sounds a little bizarre, but trust me, that book will make it easy for you to stop smoking, and the most fascinating part is that you are not required to follow any particular method or to buy anything, I mean anything at all.

Still not convinced? Read all the customers reviews here and heard what they have to say about the book. Make your decision today. You wont regret it.

P.S. if you buy the book, wait a week or a month after you read it and then send me your results via the contact page on this site. I experienced dramatic results in the period after I quit and I want to see how it worked for you.

Luckily for me I have never started smoking, but I think “Tell others about it.” is an important rule to follow. Once everyone knows you are trying to quit it will give you the effect of peer pressure. When someone sees you smoking then it will make you look bad or weak in front of your friends.

You can’t imagine the expression of my parents and grands when I cut all my cigarettes in front of them! Definitely helped me a lot.

This is actually a post you can use for most of your desires. For me I had a desire for sweets. As a kid I was a bit overweight and then I lost most of it turning 14. It is difficult but you really have to decide to do it. After 1-2 weeks without soda and sweets you end up not missing it.

I actually want to reread the book one day to recall the inner manipulation method that worked so well.

I am stuck on the first question. I have been asking myself if i really want to quit smoking. I actually enjoy it to be honest. though i have cut it down to a considerable amount, i am still hesitating to quit the habit for good. Good post Oscar. I’ll come back if i made up my mind. Stumbled :)

Hey Karlil, if you don’t really want to quit, you’d better wait for when you want. There will for sure be a time when you’ll be tired of this habit.

      P.S thanks for the stumble!

I’ve never been a smoker, but really admire people who can quit. I’ve seen how hard it is through friends and family who have tried to quit.

Hey Evan, it was hard indeed for me until I found that “method”. I think it was the first time I was directly exposed to personal development and probably npl.

If you do not have the will power to just quit cold turkey there are some new ways of replacing. It may not be the best of ways but anything that gets you to quit “smoking” is a good thing right? after all it’s the smoke not the cigarette that is killing you.

I smoke but I have started a program to quit and try to help others quit at the same time. I wrote about it on my blog and invite all that are interested in helping to save a life come by and look. Leave a comment to cheer me on, I can use all the help I can get. :)

The Allen Carr book you mention really is great. The idea in it is to change from a passive quitting (where you are just waiting for a pang strong enough to make you smoke) to an active quitting (where you intend to KILL the nicotine parasite that the tobacco companies have put inside you).
    Very clever

In my opinion, this is not a “method” to be discovered or taught. What happened is you finally decided that you really wanted to quit; so you quit. The rest of this post is just fluff around one important idea:

You have to really want to quit smoking.

I have been through this and watched many, many smoker friends go through this. You will “quit” many times in your life, but each attempt will fail. Then one day you try to quit, and it feels different. You are no longer holding yourself back from some great desire; you have simply moved on to a new phase of life where you don’t smoke.

Of course, there will still be occasional temptation, because you know, smoking is an incredibly strong chemical and psychological addiction. People who think it’s a matter of will power or discipline or strength are really don’t get what addiction is.

I respect your opinion, and what you said makes sense. However my intention is to help those who already want to quit by providing what worked for me. Thanks for your feedback,

Just wanted to drop in and say thank you for recommending that book. I read it and haven’t had one since. It just gets you in the right mindset of actually quitting. It’s now being passed around to other people I know lol.

    But thank you much :)

I quit smoking a few years ago and I must say I smoked a lot (9 years with an average of 20 ciggies per day). I stopped at once (cold turkey), successfully, after x previous attempts. What made the difference that time? A very, very strong personal motivation to me healthy and not have to quit because of needing it. Oscar is right, I have seen the benefits very shortly after stopping. I can still remember how good I slept the first night. Absolutely no one believed in me that I can stop, like I told you, I had smoked a lot!! I can only agree with Oscar that it’s best decision ever made.

this book is brilliant.. my friend told me about it long time back.. forget waking up.. u can smell things and taste things and actually fall asleep without feeling like you are suffocating.. but it is very hard to make yourself reading it.. cause you are scared that it might actually help you quit.. as the author was telling about ppl who tried to read one line a day just to postpone quitting
