I realized that I’ve never written about how to actually find your passion, yet I believe it’s something very important to do. Even if you have no idea about what your passion is, if you start looking now, chances are that you’ll soon be living it. Give it a try.

The process of finding your passion is very simple, the only difficult thing is that you have to allow your passion to rise. You might be doing something completely different from what your passion is right now, and unless you have an open mind it will be difficult to spot it. That said, here’s my method for finding your passion:

  • First, understand that passion is something that you enjoy doing, and that you would do even for free if you had not to worry about money or anything else. Also, note that you may have more than one passion in your life, and that’s perfectly fine.
  • Now that you know what passion is, try to think about anything that you already do that would fit that description. Perhaps you’re already working on your passion, you may hate your boss but what you’re doing is somehow related to your passion.
  • If nothing came to mind in the second step, think about your hobbies. Do you like playing soccer? What about chess? Or maybe you like fixing vehicles or computers, or painting. I believe that 90% of times you are already living your passion through a hobby that you have, even though it’s very likely that you have very little time for pursuing it.
  • If all the previous steps failed, it’s time to experiment. Don’t worry if you still haven’t found what your passion is, it’s now time for you to try out new things. Think about something that you’d like to do, and do it! Examples include writing, painting, making music, playing chess, etc. Don’t worry if you think that you’re not good at any of those, everyone is bad the first time they tried something. Give a new hobby enough time and you’ll soon find out wherever you like it or not.

What do you do once you know what your passion is? In simple words, you live it. Initially, you may want to make time in order to practice and live your passion, and with time you may want to consider making it a big part of your life.

A question for those who already know what their passion is, how did you find yours?
