Climate Change

Today is Blog Action Day and thousands of bloggers are writing about climate change. The argument of this year is one that touches everyone of us.

It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, happy or sad, climate changes will affect everyone of us, and our children as well.

Unfortunately TV and medias are not educating the population enough and I believe a big reason is that they don’t know what’s happening. I am the first to admit I have no idea of how and why exactly all of this is happening.

I believe that if we all have the knowledge of what the reality is and what we can do, we could make the difference, that’s why I suggest you to spend a small amount of time today to educate yourself around this topic.

We need your help.

Quick and precise Oscar. I believe we should take this as a movement if each one teaches at least one other person and asks him to pass on the info about climate change, thats it. In that sense climate change has to go viral…

Hi Chanda, I think the same. We can’t beat what we don’t know, and internet can make a difference thanks to his power.

    Hey Oscar,
I think it would be cool if we did our part and nature did her part too. Sometimes, she lets volcanoes erupt and lightning to cause massive bush fires undoing all of our good work in reducing CO2.

Hi Gordie, I don’t know the impact of volcanoes but maybe we should focus on what we can do instead of what we can’t :)

Climate change… But… Go viral on what? On the fact that it is happening? Or on what to do about it?

Everything I’ve read has led me to being massively confused. For one, I am not even sure that the greenhouse effect has been clearly established as a cause of global warming. And I am clearly against the negative growth hysteria that will drive the poorest deeper in poverty while the most protected will get to keep their lifestyle.

Claude Allègre says in his book that progress can be counted on for the solutions we will need much more than we can count on hitting the brakes, which will at best buy some time but will also prevent the economy from financing research. A substitute for freon ended the ozone layer problem. That substitute was invented by a private company that made the knowledge available through a creative commons licence.

I don’t like talking about global warming much because it reeks manipulation by people that make way too much money from their just cause to be completely credible (Al Gore / Nicolas Hulot…)

“Everything I’ve read has led me to being massively confused.” That’s the problem, I am very confused too and if we are all confused it’s difficult to do something.

Our polar regions are melting at a rapid speed. This is caused by the hole in our ozone layer and the continuous entrapment of carbon dioxide into our air, which is the result of the worlds depleting trees. Also the hole was caused by the chemicals released into our air, like that of the automobiles. The result is global warming or what is called the greenhouse effect. It has a huge impact on the climate of our world. :-)

Hi Walter and thanks for the information. I wish everyone would do like in sweden, where for every tree they cut, they plant 7.

Hi Oscar, you bring up a great point that a lot of people don’t really have enough information about this. But it is out there. Unfortunately, it’s become sort of political and commercial which, I believe, is blinding people’s ability to see the science behind it (including the mass media’s.) I think your call for everyone to try to find out more for themselves is a good one.

Hey Miche, I’m not an expert on the subject and I am often confused by the information out there, probably because as you said it’s becoming political and commercial.

    Hello Oscar,
I think some people use the excuse ’it’s political’ so they do not have to do anything. Maybe they don’t want to feel bad for being irresponsible.
Even if you don’t believe in Global Warming or Climate Change it shouldn’t matter. Being irresponsible about trashing the earth and using up resources has never been ok.
My grandmothers (born before 1900’s) never used the term climate change yet, they knew that you should use only what you need & replace what you can.
I do not understand all the info that is in the public eye but, I do know that Mother Earth needs everyone of us to do our part in keeping her clean & safe for generations to come.

Hey Sheryl, what you said it’s true. Everyone can make a difference if we all use proper trashing and we respect the earth.

Still the Blog action Day is a great event and initiative. The most important thing is the industries around should take majors to stop in whatever level they could, in fact common people like us should insist more on green products. Global warming is a biggest threat in the near future! I think what we people on internet can do is atleast our search query hits, because each search query on Google generates 7gm of CO2, servers are equally responsible.

Hi Tejaswini, I heard about that, and I believe it’s true. However I think that there are so many things we can do that provides more benefits than reducing our queries to google. I believe google is also trying to fix this.

If each of us take a small effort in trying to conserve our mother nature, the effort will snowballed into something really significant. So people start taking action now!

    Cheers,
    Vincent

I think climate is a much hype subject. Forgive me for being frank. I think there is much better problems that we are facing to be focusing on other things like climate change. I would rather everyone focusing on providing the essential needs for the poor, such as access to clean water and shelter. But that’s just me. :)

Well, if what some scientists are saying about climate change, it’s a serious issues because if the sea level raises,a lot of islands and lands will go down.

Climate change, is the biggest laugh. Is it not so interesting how all things tragic things that happen benefit government, cooperations and bankers?

Is it not funny how we have a carbon tax coming in.

The whole global warming thing has been around outside of mainstream media. Many scientists know its a hoax.

I suppose saying that the sun warming up and causing the earth to warm up would be insanity.

Or looking at the graphs showing the temperatures of the earth and how they where much higher before all this industry stuff came in.

The real info is out there, the accept info is the one that is just repeated over and over till people see a popular trend and run with it. “Everyone believe in global warming, so it must be right.”

When in reality the spot light is only one one side of the argument to give the illusion of information or journalism.

You can go research yourself and you’ll see.

I’ve always seen contradictory arguments, but something I agree is that we should respect nature and not abuse it. Thanks for your comment.
