Disclaimer: I received this book for free (the author was kind enough to send it to me), but the post below is only my genuine personal opinion.
I don’t usually do book reviews here on freestylemind, but sometimes I read a book that is so valuable that I want to share it with you. Today I want to talk about achieve anything in just one year, a book written by Jason Harvey that it’s all about achieving your dreams and improving all the areas of your life.
Before reading the book, I had some doubts. There’s a lot of hype in the tile, and I’ve seen (and read) countless of books that make this kind of promises but delivered poorly, so I wasn’t expecting a lot from it. Despite that, I had to change my mind after only a few pages.
The first thing that caught my eyes was that this book is not structured like all the other books. In fact it is designed to be read one page per day for 365 days. Every page contains a powerful quote, a lesson and an assignment. It wont take more than 10-15 minutes every day, but they will be very well worth it.
Let’s talk about the content of the book. From motivation to goals, from making plans to developing your social skills there’s everything. But best of all the content is highly practical and it would be virtually impossible not to improve your life (leaving home the boring stuff).
If this book was written by me, I would have titled it “Change Your Life In Just One Year”, because I really believe so. The original title might be a bit misleading, but the content is very good.
By the way, I read most of the pages before writing this review, but I’ve now started again from the beginning and I’m going through it a bit every day, like it is supposed to be. It’s fantastic to wake up every morning with a quick 10 minutes motivational read, and the exercises are easy (though powerful) and don’t take much time.
If you want more information about the book, you can visit its amazon page here. Personally, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the review Oscar.
The format – 1 page for each day of the year – seems like it would be appealing. Instead of rushing through the book this style forces you to digest it, which is the manner in which any personal development book should be consumed.

That sounds very interesting…one powerful lesson every morning. I just added the book on my wish list.

Can you give us an example of an exercise you have to complete? Is it like the exercises which Tim Ferris mentions in his “4 hour work week” book? (i.e. lie on the ground in a busy public space/pavement for a minute)

Hey Chris, no, they are very different. For example one exercise is to take a notebook for you for at least a week and write down your dreams, then another day you work on your goals and another one you have to find something that will move you closer to your goals. The book also talks about health and other stuff. Single exercises alone wont do much but together they can be very powerful if you follow them.

Thanks for the book review. I’d like to check that out. Usually I too am skeptical of books with inflated titles like these.
My book recommendations of the year are Pam Slim’s “Escape From Cubicle Nation” and Simon Sinek’s “Start With Why.” Great books to get you motivated to do more.
